Noted events in his life were:

1. Census in 1850 in Mifflin Township, Franklin, Ohio, United States. 1 The 1850 census recorded Charles Heyl, farmer, 28, living with wife Louisa, 23; daughter Esther, 5; and son John, 2. Everyone was born in Ohio.
Living next door is Charles' father Christian Heyl, 62, associate judge, born in Germany, with wife Esther, 58, born in Pennsylvania.

2. Census in 1860 in Mifflin Township, Franklin, Ohio, United States. 2 The 1860 census recorded Chas Hyle [sic, as spelled by census taker, should be Heyl], farmer, 37, living with wife Eliza, 30; Esther, 15; John F., 12; Georgeanna, 8; Lavina, 3; and Eliza, 6 months old on 20 Jul 1860 when the census was recorded. Everyone was born in Ohio except mother Eliza in Pennsylvania.
Next door is Chas' father Christian Hyle, retired farmer, 72, with wife Esther, 69, and a domestic servant Elizabeth Pilgrim, 53. Christian was born in Bavaria, Germany, Esther in Pennsylvania, and Ms. Pilgrim in Ohio. Christian's real estate was worth $11,500 and personal estate $2,000, and son Charles has no land and $600 personal estate.
On the same page is a neighbor, Chas' brother-in-law - his wife's brother Peter Bigher [as recorded by census taker, should be Bicher], farm laborer, 35, living with wife Elizabeth, 30; Albert, 5; Sarah, 3; Sylvester, 1; Peter's brother John, farm laborer, 16; and Peter's sister Mary, 18, domestic. Peter was caring for them because their father had died in 1851.
Peter and his brother and sister were born in Pennsylvania, everyone else in Ohio. He had no real estate and his personal estates was worth $400, so as a farm laborer he was likely work on Christian's land mentioned below.
