The infirmities of old age resulted in the death Wednesday evening of John Diehl, at his home 3 miles north of town. Deceased was 84 years old and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Adaline Lutz, Mrs. W. W. Wilt and Mrs. Chas. Meiser, and two sons, Richard Diehl and Revere Diehl.
Mr. Diehl had been a resident of this township for about 45 years and was respected by all who knew him. The funeral services will no doubt be held at Zion church Sunday.

2. Obituary: Bristol Banner: obituary of John Diehl on 2 Apr 1909 in Bristol, Elkhart, IN. ⁴ Father John Diehl was born in Schoolkell Co. [sic], Pa., Dec 13, 1824.
In 1853 he was married to Mary Eisenhart. To this happy union were born 5 children, 2 sons and 3 daughters, Richard, Adaline, Revier, Sarah and Maggie, all survive him. Mrs. Diehl has preceded her husband about three years ago to the spirit world.
In 1865 the parents came with their family to Elkhart Co., Ind., to the home where he resided to the time of his death.
Father Diehl was a hard working man, a good neighbor, a kind and loving husband and father.
Father Diehl and wife were members of the German Reform church. Of late years they were affiliated with the Zion Ev-Lutheran church.
His last sickness was of short duration, only four days. He was resigned in all his afflictions. He departed this life at home, under the tender care of his daughter, Sarah, Mar 24, 1909, at the ripe old age of 84 yrs, 3 mos and 11 days.
There remains to mourn his departure, the 5 children, 3 grand children and 1 great grandchild, with many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted March 28th, at the Zion Ev-Lutheran church. Interment in the Zion cemetery.

John married Mary Anna Eisenhart, daughter of Jonas Eisenhart and Anna Maria Geist, on 28 Jun 1853 in Chillisquaque, Northumberland, PA, United States.¹ (Mary Anna Eisenhart was born on 16 May 1833 in Leck Kill, Northumberland, PA ^{1 7 8 9}, christened on 23 Jun 1833 in Upper Mahanoy Twp.: Howerter's Church, Northumberland, PA,⁸ died on 27 Jul 1905 in Bristol, Elkhart, IN ^{1 9} and was buried on 30 Jul 1905 in Bristol: Zion Cemetery, Elkhart, IN ^{1 9}.)
