Price, 60 of 19782 Sweetwater Rd., Dry Run, arrived home in heaven with our Lord and Saviour at 7:50 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2009. He was born in Hanover, PA on May 23, 1948 to the late John E. Price and Beryl Jean Reeder Price, formerly of Chambersburg.

John was a 1966 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He had a love of music and played the drums during his early childhood and adulthood years. John performed in several different locally known bands from the 1960s to the mid 1970s. These bands were often the entertainment for the dances held at the YMCA, CASHS and the Market House street dances. He was also a member of the Phil Young Dance Band.

John served in the U.S. Army, having enlisted in 1966 and receiving his honorable discharge in 1969. He served his country in Ethiopia for two of his three years in the military. John was a Christian, he loved his Lord Jesus, he had a deep commitment to his faith and family, as well as to serving God's children. His love and compassion for God's children was further demonstrated when he was called to open The Good Shepherd's Food Pantry of Path Valley. Even in the midst of his physical struggles, John didn't hesitate to serve Jesus. He also served in the capacity of co-chairmanship with his wife for The Salvation Army Service Unit of Northern Franklin County.

John married Lynne C. Marshall on May 13, 1967 in Chambersburg and this union gave them two daughters and six grandchildren. Surviving are his wife who resides at the Dry Run residence, daughter Andrea L. Thompson, (husband Donald), of Chambersburg and daughter Sandy L. Semple, (Chad Beecher) of Ft. Loudon. Six grandchildren Hope and Kyle Semple, Jill and Leah Thompson and Cole Beecher and he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sierra Beecher. Also surviving him are his sister Anna B. Miller (husband Sam), of Chambersburg, nephew Samuel Miller and his wife Melody, nephew Daniel, two nieces Sunshine and Autumn and a great-niece, a great-nephew and a great-great nephew. He is also survived by his Mother-in-Law, Ethel Marshall of Chambersburg, and his brother-in-law Steven T. Marshall, (wife Marilyn McCleary) and their children Aubrey, Briana, and Jeremy, all of Oak Hill, VA.

A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Wednesday, March 18th at the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run, PA, officiated by Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer with special guests Reverend G. Nathan Bell of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Chambersburg, PA and the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive visitors at the church from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will take place on Thursday, March 19th at the Lincoln Cemetery at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Good Shepherd's Food Pantry of Path Valley, P.O. Box 145, Dry Run, PA 17220. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
