A Sharon Hill woman died in Abington Memorial Hospital at 12:20 a.m., Sunday, four hours after she was injured in an auto crash in Elkins Park.
The dead woman was identified by Cheltenham police as Mrs. Myrtle B. Beacher, 50, of 712 Poplar st. She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Franklin M., an engineer at the Philadelphia Electric Co.
Police said the Beacher car collided with a vehicle driven by Richard Voltz, 17, of Lynnwood road, Glenside, at York and Meetinghouse roads.
Beacher was quoted by police as saying that he, his wife, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Young of Slocum st., Philadelphia, were on their way to a "house warming" in Rydale when the accident occurred.
Mrs. Beacher never regained consciousness. A resident of Sharon Hill for 30 years, she was employed by the F. W. Punell Co., Philadelphia, as head accountant.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Beacher was a graduate of West Philadelphia Girls High School and Taylor Business School.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beacher is survived by a brother, Lester Brown, of Chester. Her only child, a daugher, died four days after her birth many years ago.
Services will be held at the Drews funeral home, Main st., Darby, on Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill. Friends may call Wednesday evening.
