7. Obituary: The Oregonian: obituary of Daniel Adrian Beecher on 4 Oct 2005 in Portland, Multnomah, OR. 8 BEECHER, DANIEL ADRIAN, JR. 1925-2005. A resident of Olive Grove Retirement Center, Corning, Calif., formerly of Portland, Daniel passed away Aug. 29, 2005, at the age of 80. He was born to Daniel Adrian Beecher Sr, and Leona Rittenhouse Beecher, in Kirkwood, Mo., on July 17, 1925. He attended Christian Brothers School in St. Louis, graduating in 1943. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps on July 16, 1943, served as a radar mechanic in the Third Photo Reconnaissance Squadron, and was honorably discharged at Forth Lewis, Wash., on March 6, 1946. He had attained the rank of sergeant. Mr. Beecher subsequently graduated in 1952, from the University of Washington, Seattle, with a bachelor's degree in home economics. He worked at Boeing Aircraft while attending college. He was employed by Portland State University, and retired with 29 years of service, retiring as director of the student union center. After retirement he was employed by Multnomah County Facilities Department as project manager and later by the Oregon State Liquor Control Board as a budget officer. He moved to Joyce, Wash., in 1992, where he became active in the Crescent Bay Lions Club, serving as president of the club, on the board of directors and other capacities. While in Joyce he was employed by the U. S. Department of Commerce., NOAA Division, for a brief time. He moved to California in 2003. Mr. Beecher married Barbara Heniken of Seattle in 1946. She predeceased him in 1976, and on Jan. 15, 2001, his son, Matthew Edward Beecher, also passed away. He is survived by his son, Daniel Adrian Beecher III, of Portland; nephew, Daniel Lafser, and his wife, Linda, of Spokane; numerous nieces and nephews; and his present wife, Dorothy. The family requests remembrances be sent to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, 302 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, NC 28806; or to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 332 No. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.


Daniel married Barbara Heniken, daughter of Charles Edward Heniken and Margaret McDougall, on 23 Mar 1948 in Seattle, King, WA.1 (Barbara Heniken was born on 3 Jan 1927 in Seattle, King, WA,9 10 11 12 died on 25 Jun 1977 in Beaverton, Washington, OR 10 11 12 and was buried in Hillsboro: Old Scotch Church Cemetery, Washington, OR 12.)
