Mrs. Mary Ashfield, respected resident of Mahanoy City for more than half a century, passed away at her home, 702 West Spruce Street, this morning from a complication of diseases caused by old age.
The departed, who had been bedfast since March, was eighty-two years of age. She was a native of England removing to this country sixty-five years ago, taking up residence in town where she resided until her demise.
During her residence in the community, the late Mrs. Ashfield became affiliated with the Primitive Methodist church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Pocahontas.
Surviving are three sons, Robert and John at home, and Edward of Philadelphia; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Johnson of Waterbury, Conn., and Mrs. Anna Shields of Bamesvllle; three stepsons, Joseph Ashfleld, of Coles and George and William, of town; and one brother, Alfred Horrox of Philadelphia. Clifford has charge.
