She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Pasquale "Patsy" and Marie Donato (Maiorino) Montrella. She married Eugene D. Nigro on July 15, 1939, in Altoona. He died in 1970.
Surviving are four daughters: Carol A. DeNisi and husband, Ronald, of Wexford, JoAnne "Cookie" Gordon of Altoona, Patricia "Patty" DelBiondo and husband, William, of Shrewsbury and Barbara Beecher and husband, Dennis, of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren: John, Nicole, Joe, Mike, Tony, Peter, Matthew and Denny; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Beecher. Cecelia was the last surviving member of her family of 10 siblings.
Mrs. Nigro was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona.
Cecelia was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing for her family, especially for her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Anthony P. Scaglione Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona, by Father James B. Coveney.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
