2. Obituary: Peoria Journal Star on 2 Oct 2008 in Peoria, Peoria, IL. 3 Delmar G. Bucher, age 79, of 503 E. Broadway, Astoria, Ill., passed away at 8:02 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.

He was born on June 4, 1929, in Astoria, Ill., a son of Lester E. and Esther M. (Ewing) Bucher. On June 6, 1948, Delmar married Betty J. Garrettson in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gary (and Janelle) Bucher of Bellevue, Neb.; four daughters, Teresa (and Lewis) Cline of Yorktown, Va., Amy (and Mike) Wear of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Trella (and Don) Howe of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Ketra Jo Bucher of Astoria, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Lou (and William) Brown of Astoria, Ill.

Delmar was a farmer. He also worked at International Harvester in Canton for 29 years, retiring in 1984. He drove a school bus for the Astoria Community Unit Schools.

He was a baptized believer in our Lord and Saviour.

He was a wonderful husband of 60 years, father, and a friend to all.

Delmar was a member of the Astoria Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Gary Sheets and Ray Artrip will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad or his church.
