1. Obituary: Marion Star: obituary of Mrs. Marcus Gowey on 17 Aug 1955 in Marion, Marion, OH. ⁴ Mrs. Alona H. Gowey, 86, died this morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Beicher, at 330 Powhattan St.
Born Feb 16, 1869, in Union County, she was a daughter of Lorenzo and Anna White Cheney. Her husband, Marcus Gowey, died in 1939 in North Lewisburg. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge at North Lewisburg and of the Methodist Church at Lakeside.
Surviving with her daughter are seven grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister and a brother, Mrs. Martha Blake of San Jose, Calif., and Rush Cheney of Richwood. Three children preceeded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the M. H. Gunder Sons Funeral Home on W. Center St. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at North Lewisburg. Friends may call at the furneral home after Thursday noon.
