1. Obituary: on 30 Jan 2004 in Bloomsburg, Columbia, PA. ^{1 2} Marvin G. Bucher Sr., age 86, of 8 Frosty Valley Road, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at his residence. He was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Fernville, a son of the late Austin C. and Belle (Oman) Bucher.

Mr. Bucher was employed by Magee Carpet Co. for 43 years. He then worked at Danville State Hospital for four years, retiring in the early 1980s.

During World War II, Mr. Bucher was a member of the 313th Battalion, 79th Division, Company A, U.S. Army Infantry.

Mr. Bucher enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoyed racing homing pigeons, trapping, hunting and fishing. Marvin was a member of the Combat Infantry Outfit of Pa., the Espy Fire Hall and the Catawissa VFW.

He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin G. Bucher Jr., in 1992; by three sisters, Beulah Bucher, Bertell Brobst and Patricia Heiger; and by four brothers, Paul, John, Sheldon and Robert. His former wife, C. Jane Hunter, also died previously. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Dennen of Catawissa and Jo Marie, wife of Stephen Slusser, of Hershey; a son, Rod Bucher Sr. of Hummelstown; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Allen Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Bloomsburg. Friends will be received on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg, with military services by the Catawissa and Bloomsburg VFW. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association, 6041 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.

Marvin married C. Jane Hunter. (C. Jane Hunter was born on 27 Mar 1922 in , Columbia, PA and died on 11 Jul 1999 in , Columbia, PA.)
