Stephen Bernet Dies At His Perkiomen Avenue Home Aged 76

Stephen Bernet, aged 76 years, died at 3 yesterday morning of complications at his residence, 1840 Perkiomen avenue. He had been in ill health for two years. Mr. Bernet was born in Ontelaunee Township, a son of Samuel and Catherine (Dunkie) Bernet. For many years he was a prosperous farmer at Stonersville, but 14 years ago he retired and moved to this city. He was a member of the Reformed Church of Schwarzwald. There remain his wife, Susan (nee Miller), and these children: Annie, wife of Hoyard Saylor, of Yellow House; Sallie, wife of William Redcay, Stonersville; Mary, wife of William H. Hoffman, Stonersville; Samuel, Amityville, and Calvin, Stonersville. There also survives a brother, Herman Bernet, of Ontelaunee.


Stephen married Susan Beecher, daughter of John Beecher III and Susan Schmidt, on 16 Nov 1905 in Reading, Berks, PA.1 (Susan Beecher was born on 18 Oct 1848 in Bern Twp., Berks, PA 7 9 10 11 12, christened on 12 May 1849 in Bern Twp.: Epler's Church, Berks, PA,11 died on 7 Mar 1939 in West Reading, Berks, PA 4 7 12 and was buried on 10 Mar 1939 in Reading: Charles Evans Cemetery, Berks, PA 4 7 12.)
