Mr. Metzler is survived by three sons: Glenn Metzler of Farmingdale, Maine, Donald Metzler of Allenwood, PA, and Dale Metzler of Lewisburg; five daughters: Twila Gehman of Middleburg; Reba Yoder of Watsontown; Rachel Bicher of Pine Grove; Jewel Zook of Kemp, Texas, and Crystal Zook of Middleburg; 48 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 14, 2010 from Hartleton Mennonite Church, 418 Laurel Road, Millmont. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Saturday at the church. Officiating will be Bishop Alvin Snyder and Ministers Daniel Herr, Darvin Martin, and Leon Martin. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family request no flowers; memorial gifts can be made to Hartleton Mennonite Church, c/o Mr. Dale Metzler, 344 Churches Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837. The George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Rt. 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Metzler, 89, of Middleburg, formerly of Lititz, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at his home. He was the husband of the late Anna Mary (Martin) Metzler, who preceded him on Aug. 8, 1997.
Mr. Metzler was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Lititz, a son of the late Herman H. and Amanda (Brubaker) Metzler. He was engaged in farming most of his life. Mr. Metzler also worked for Penns Creek Furniture and did drywall. He was an active member of Hartleton Mennonite Church, where he served as a deacon. Elam enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grand- children. Mr. Metzler is survived by three sons and their spouses, Glenn and Esther Metzler, of Farmingdale Maine, Donald and Carol Metzler, of Allenwood, and Dale and Janie Metzler, of Lewisburg; five daughters and their spouses, Twila and Larry Gehman, of Middleburg, Reba and Richard Yoder, of Watsontown, Rachel and Kevin Bicher, of Pine Grove, Jewel and Timothy Zook, of Kemp, Texas, and Crystal and David Zook, of Middleburg; 48 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Metzler was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded by three sisters, four brothers and a grandson, Joseph Metzler, in infancy. Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartleton Mennonite Church, 418 Laurel Road, Millmont.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Officiating will be Bishop Alvin Snyder and ministers Daniel Herr, Darvin Martin and Leon Martin. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family request no flowers.
