6. Obituary: Death of J. H. McCollum. Sumter Citizen and Confederate Veteran Passes Away. On 8 Jun 1911 in Sumter, Sumter, SC. Sumter, June 8. Special: Mr. J. H. McCollum died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, J. Hugh McCollum, on Broad street, after a short illness at the age of seventy-three years.

He leaves seven sons, Messr. T. W., J. Hugh, H. Warren, Eugene T., and Roland, of Sumter, and Henry and Angus, of Olanta. His wife died several years ago.

Mr. McCollum was a Confederate soldier, ahving served with distinction during the four years of the war. He was for many years a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral services were held at the residence this morning, and the interment took place at the cemetery afterwards, a number of friends and relatives uniting in paying their last tribute of respect. McCollum's sons acted as pallbearers.

7. Obituary: Mr. J. H. McCollum Dead on 10 Jun 1911 in Sumter, Sumter, SC. Mr. J. H. McCollum died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, J. Hugh McCollum, on Broad street, after a short illness, at the age of 73.

Mr. McCollum moved to Sumter five or six years ago to live with his sons here, and has lived here since that time up to the time of his death. He was a native of Marlboro county from which place he moved to Clarendon county in the Summerton section where he farmed for many years.

His sons were all raised at Summerton, from which place he afterwards moved to the Bethlehem neighborhood, coming from there to Sumter.

He leaves seven sons, Messrs. T. W., J. Hugh, Warren, Eugene T., and Roland McCollum of Sumter and Henry and Angus McCollum, of Olanta. His wife died several years ago.

Mr. McCollum was a Confederate soldier, having served during the four years of the war. He was for many years a member of the Methodist Church and had moved his membership to the Broad street church only a short time previous to his death.
