  Noted events in his life were:

1. Benjamin Tupper purchases land and builds his home. In 1755 in Nantucket, Nantucket, MA. 7 Benjamin Tupper, physician, bought from Tristram Starbuck, yeoman, for 32 pounds "a piece of land in the Fish Lots on Wesco Hill". He also bought additional land from George Hussey, being "on the declivity Wesco Bank" for 10 pounds, 13 shillings, 4 pence. Soon afterwards he built the Benjamin Tupper house on the land, which today is known as 28 Orange Street in Nantucket.

2. Sale of Benjamin Tupper House, 28 Orange Street, Nantucket. In 1793 in Nantucket, Nantucket, MA. 7 Obadiah Wood by deed from his father-in-law Benjamin Tupper paid 250 pounds for "land together with dwelling-house, barn, outhouses and fence".

Following Benjamin's death, in 1798 the estate of Benjamin Tupper M.D. sold his home at 28 Orange Street.

Today it is is recognized as an historic home, known also as the "Tupper-Folger House." Photographs and information is found on the Library of Congress website at: http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/ma0400/

Significance: The rear or east section is one of the first houses built in this section and believed to be the home where Crevecoeur, author of Letters From an American Farmer, was entertained in 1772; the west section is typical of the five-bay Greek Revival "mansions" built in Nantucket at the time of the greatest whaling prosperity; part of the Orange and Union Streets Neighborhood Study.

son of ELDAD of Sandwich, Mass., b. May 31, 1674, d. Sept. 15, 1750, appointed with others to act for the Indians, rep. of Sandwich 13 years, largely engaged commercially, his register shows numerous charities, had a large estate (m. Dec. 30, 1701, Martha Wheaton);.
