1. Obituary: Morning Call: obituary of Robert W. Fenton on 3 Apr 1998 in Allentown, Lehigh, PA. 4 Robert W. Fenton Sr., 71, of Broomall, a retired educator, died of respiratory failure Tuesday at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Mr. Fenton retired in 1988 as principal assistant director of the former Marple Vocational Technical School, a position he held for about five years. He previously taught carpentry at the vo-tech school for about 20 years, and in 1984-85 served as acting director of the Intermediate Unit. In addition to teaching, he worked as a carpenter and general contractor for many years. Mr. Fenton was born and raised in North Girard, Erie County. He left high school to serve in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he resumed his education, graduated from John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Delaware. He later earned a master's degree in education from Pennsylvania State University and also took courses in special education at Temple University. Mr. Fenton had lived in Broomall since 1957 and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church there. He also was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the Carpenters & Joiners Union and Williamson-Corinthian Masonic Lodge 368, the latter two in Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Beecher Fenton; four children, Robert W. Jr., Gray M., Leslie J. and Ami L. Sarli; a brother; two sisters; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Sproul and Laurence Roads, Broomall. Friends may call there after 1 p.m. Burial will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1 Street Rd., Suite 207, Southampton, Pa. 19866.


Robert married Jean C. Beecher, daughter of Lew Wallace Beecher and Clara P. Bellows, in 1951 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA.1 (Jean C.
