1. Obituary: The Times: Obituary of Charles M. Rhoades on 14 Sep 1962 in Munster, Lake, IN. ³ Charles M. (Choppy) Rhoades, 60, of 2114 Schrage Ave., Whiting, died Thursday in St. Catherine Hospital. He was employed in the plant protection department at the Mobil Oil Co. refinery in East Chicago, and was a former resi- dent of that city. He lived in Whiting for the past 14 years.
Mr. Rhoades is survived by his wife, Rose; one son, Richard Charles of Whiting: a daughter, Mrs. William Dunn of Griffith; his father, Harry Rhoades of East Chicago; a brother, Floyd in California; a sister, Mrs. Helen Boyle, Martinez, Calif., and a granddaughter.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Kosior Funeral Home, 2031 Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting.

Charles married Catharine Mae Spong, daughter of Jacob Henry Spong Sr. and Lydia Catharine Carlisle, on 13 Jun 1924 in , Dauphin, PA.¹ (Catharine Mae Spong was born on 3 Jan 1907 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA,^{1 2 4} died on 4 Apr 1979 in Camp Hill, Cumberland, PA ⁴ and was buried in Camp Hill: Rolling Green Cemetery, Cumberland, PA ⁴.)
