Gary John Beecher II, 29, was charged with several counts related to the burglary of P&N Auto in Dreher Township in June 2000. He allegedly broke into the garage through a second floor sliding glass door and removed a bank money bag containing $10 in cash, a series of state inspection stickers and several blank business checks. He was charged with four counts related to the incident, including burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief. He accepted a offer from the district attorneys office and pleaded guilty to the lone charge of criminal trespass, punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $15,-000 fine. The sole witness to the break-in was the defendants father, also named Gary John Beecher. The elder man was already sentenced in federal court for his role in the crime. He wrote more than $7,500 in forged checks that he cashed at LA Bank and other institutions. The man, who is in poor health, is serving a sentence of six months house arrest plus five years probation. The trial was actually slated to begin Monday afternoon, but the older Mr. Beecher failed to show as a witness. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday and he did appear in court on Tuesday. He told President Judge Robert Conway that he was ill and could not make it to court. But after pointing out that part of his federal sentence included agreeing to testify against his son. Judge Conway ordered the man to pay a $250 fine for failing to appear in court as ordered. The younger Mr. Beecher will be sentenced Oct. 25. In addition to any prison time or fines, he agreed to pay $300 in restitution.

Gary John Beecher II pleads not guilty

VALLEY '97 All charges have been held for trial for a man accused of soliciting sex from teenage girls, forcing a teenage girl to commit a sexual act multiple times and punching a teenage girl.
Gary John Beecher II, 39, of Valley, entered a plea of not guilty at his preliminary hearing Monday before Magisterial District Judge Grover Koon. The judge held all charges for Common Pleas Court despite attempts by defense attorney Lewis Hannah of Philadelphia to have various charges dismissed.
After the hearing, Hannah asked the judge to reduce Beecher's $500,000 bail, describing it as "excessive and unnecessary." Koon denied the request.
The first of three teenage girls who testified Monday said Beecher had her conduct sexual acts on several occasions over the course of several months. The girl testified that on multiple occa
sions Beecher had solicited other sexual acts from her.
The second teenage girl who testified said Beecher had taken her cell phone then committed a sexual act in front of her while looking at a picture of her on the cell phone.
The third teenage girl who testified said Beecher had solicited sexual acts and made sexual comments at various times in person and via text messages.
Two other teenage girls were also slated to testify Monday, but they left the court before taking the stand. Hannah criticized Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Pitts, saying Pitts had "thumbed her nose" at the defense by letting the witnesses leave.
In the girls' absence, Valley Police Detective Timothy Parker testified about statements the two teens had given to investigators prior to Beecher's arrest.
Parker testified that one teen had reported receiving at least one text message from Beecher that allegedly said, "You're hot."
And Parker testified that the other teen had accused Beecher of punching her in the stomach twice after she had used foul language.
The hearing was scheduled for 11 a.m. but did not begin until about 1:30 p.m. and lasted until about 4 p.m.
The district attorney's office charged Beecher with five counts of corrupting a minor for all five alleged victims as well as five counts each of indecent assault, indecent exposure and unlawful contact with a minor '97 all for one victim.
