3. Newspaper: Dundalk Eage: Couple, two children perish in Dec. 11 Blaze, 22 Dec 2010, Dundalk, Baltimore, MD. 1 It was going to be another weekend spent with family and enjoying the countryside.
Jessica Beecher and her family packed up and made their way to Cecil County to stay with Beecher's father Greg in his mobile home at the Indian Acre campground.
It was a regular event for the family '96 until tragedy struck.
In the early hours of Dec. 11, police responded to a neighbor's call and found the mobile home on fire.
While Greg Beecher was able to escape, officials found four people trapped inside; all were pronounced dead.
The victims, all from Dundalk, included Beecher and her boyfriend Earl Markey III, along with their two children Kandice, age 8, and four-month-old Kendra.
To celebrate their memory, loved ones of the victims came together on Dec. 18 for a memorial service at the Charles Zeiler Funeral home.
"It's a tragedy; they were such a loving family," said Glenn Bennington, an uncle of Kandice and Kendra.
An array of collages, featuring photos from holiday parties and backyard picnics, painted the picture of a happy family.
Kendra was a spitting image of her father, with big blue eyes and his facial features.
In every picture of Kandice, people saw a happy girl playing games, smiling and enjoying a Ravens game.
More then 100 people turned out for the service, which also included a DVD display of the family.
According to Cecil County fire marshall Brian Bouch, police responded to the home around 2:45 a.m.
He said the structure of the home made it tricky to exit, since there was only one way out.
Bouch said the 16-by-18-foot home also had an exterior structure built around it to make the home bigger.
It took nearly 40 firefighters to put out the blaze, which is still under investigation, Bouch added.
While the police have not officially released the victims' names, members of the family confirmed the deaths. They have been trying to cope with the loss.
"It's been a shock to everyone," Bennington added.
For the last few years, the family had been living on Kinship Road.
Markey, 29, and Beecher, 25, met through mutual friends. Both attended Dundalk High school.
Markey worked for a printing company, while Beecher stayed at home with their two daughters.
This is not the first time tragedy has occurred in their family.
Nearly two years before, Markey and Beecher's son Kevin died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Bennington said.
The couple picked up the pieces and later learned that Beecher was pregnant again, with Kendra.
Bennington said the family kept in regular contact with Greg Beecher.
"They went to Cecil County to enjoy the country and see family," he said.
Indian Acres was Greg Beecher's permanent home.
He, along with a few hundred other community members, live at the campground year-round.
The facility is a popular destination for summer vacations.
Bennington said Greg Beecher came to the memorial service, but left halfway through.
"Many of us went out to console him," he said.
While he didn't identify Greg Beecher, Bouch said the man who survived suffered minor burns.
The remains of the family will be cremated, Bennington said.

Gregory married Kimberly A. (Kimberly A. was born about 1964.)
