John was born on March 13, 1945 in Long Beach, CA to Joseph and Margret Beecher. He was a long time resident of San Pedro, CA. John passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2009. He was a wonderful person, loving brother, father, grandfather, uncle, companion and friend. John loved everyone and always kept those around him laughing with his great humor. John enjoyed fishing, trips to Laughlin, viewing the boats in the harbor and spending time with family and friends. One of the things John loved the most was the San Diego Chargers, he has been a diehard fan his whole life. He is survived by his loving sister, Linda Daniel; his loving son, John Beecher Jr.; loving daughter and son-in-law, Mischelle and Orlando Gonzales; ten beautiful grandchildren: Danny, Chris, Justine, Serena, Breanna, Andrea, Eric, Joshua, Monique and Courtney; many caring nieces and nephews; devoted long time companion and her daughter, Sharon Bransford-Lee and Sheronda Bransford; wonderful friends of the Samoan Seas and favorite dog Raven. The viewing will be held at A.M. Gamby's Mortuary in Lomita on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 4pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at A.M. Gamby's Mortuary at 2pm followed by burial at Roosevelt Cemetery in Gardena. A reception will be held after the funeral at the V.F.W. Club in Lomita at 4:30pm.

John married Marciana Gail Ricardo, daughter of Unknown and Edwards, on 28 Mar 1964 in , Los Angeles, CA.^{1 2} The marriage ended in divorce in Sep 1970. (Marciana Gail Ricardo was born on 4 Mar 1946 in , Los Angeles, CA ¹¹.)
