(Beecher) Snider, 93, of Allegheny Township, died Wednesday Dec. 7, 2011, in Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell. She was born March 2, 1918, in Apollo, a daughter of the late Charles N. Beecher and Sarah I. (Ashbaugh) Beecher. She was employed as a registered nurse, retiring in 1988 from West Leechburg Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. following 15 years of service. She was formerly working at the Vandergrift Plant of US Steel Plant Dispensary. A member of First United Methodist Church in Leechburg, she was also a member of the Ladies Aide of the church, sang in the church choir and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Golden Agers at Penn State University New Kensington campus and the Red Hat Society of Lower Burrell called the Crimson Chapeaus. She graduated in 1935 from Apollo High School and 1939 from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed going to the theater at Penn State University New Kensington campus. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Leigh (Snider) Crofutt, of Adah; eight grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling E. Snider, who died March 10, 1980; a daughter, Sarah L. "Sally" Briggs, who died Nov. 13, 2004; half brothers, Ward, Lynn, John and Donald Beecher; and a half sister, Altha Beecher Pratt. Friends will be welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in CLAWSONS, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, and 12:30 until the time of her funeral ceremonies at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church, 251 Main St., Leechburg. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Charles R. Fowler. Interment will be made in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
