A former employee of G.S. Electric, he was a member of Old Folks Hunting Camp, Mt. Holly Springs; a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club; and a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mt. Holly Springs.
Mr. McElwee is survived by two daughters, Korin McElwee and Stephanie Beecher, both of Carlisle; his parents, Ethel and Ernest McElwee, both of Mt. Holly Springs; two sisters, Janel Cline of Carlisle and Vickie Miller of Mt. Holly Springs; a niece and a nephew.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, 45 S. West St., Carlisle.
