Born Florence C. Tottle in Baltimore and raised on St. George's Road, she was a 1928 graduate of Friends School. She attended Goucher College and the Maryland Institute College of Art.

From 1950 to 1975, Mrs. Wood volunteered at the old Woman's Hospital of Maryland, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Children's Hospital, and was a member of the women's board of Church Home Hospital.

An accomplished artist who worked in watercolors, pastels and charcoal, Mrs. Wood enjoyed doing portraits, landscapes and still-life paintings. She also volunteered at Keswick Multi-Care Center as an art instructor.

A resident of the Towson retirement community since 1999, she was a member of the Elkridge Club and Baltimore Country Club.

Her husband of 30 years, Walter A. Frey Jr., a vice president of Monarch Foods, died in 1968.

In 1977, she married H. Graham Wood, a senior vice president with First National Bank of Maryland and noted Chesapeake Bay steamboat authority. He died in 1998.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 20 at Roland Park Presbyterian Church, Roland Avenue and Upland Road.

Survivors include a son, Walter A. "Skip" Frey of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Barrie G. Sigler of Roland Park and Sandra T. Hawthorne of Mendocino, Calif.; a stepson, Robert G. Wood of Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Virginia M. Delauney of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Florence married Howard Graham Wood, son of Howard Wood and Etta J. Graham, in 1977 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD.^{1 2} (Howard Graham Wood was born on 27 Jul 1910 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD ^{1 3 4} and died on 15 May 1998 in Roland Park, Baltimore, MD ¹.)
