9. Obituary: Gettysburg Times: obituary of John M. Adams on 1 Dec 1954 in Gettysburg, Adams, PA. 1 John M. Adams, 77, a native of Emmitsburg, died Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at his home, Westernville R. 1, N. Y.
He was a son of the late Michael and Gertrude (Topper) Adams. His wife, the former Minnie G. Beecher, to which he was married in Gettysburg in 1896, died about 13 years ago.
Mr. Adams was a painter and iron worker and resided in York for a time before going to Rome, N. Y., in 1911. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in that city.
Surviving are a son, J. Lester Adams, Rome, N. Y.; two grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph Adams, Hanover, and Felix Adams, Emmitsburg.
Funeral services were held this morning at 9:30 o'clock from the Griffin and Aldridge Funeral Home in Rome with a requiem high mass at 10 o'clock in St. Mary's church there. Interment was made in St. Mary's Church Cemetery.
