Born in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Ernest and Louise E. (Reitsky) Mortzfeldt.
He was a retired laborer for Williams Foundry and was a life member of the Bowman's Addition Volunteer Fire Company.
Survining are a son, James R. Mortzfeldt, Hancock; a step-son, Kenneth L. Valentine, city; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Holtman, Mrs. Alfred Beacher and Mrs. Martin Quinn, all of Baltimore; a step-daughter, Mrs. Stewart Flanagan, Ridgeley; a brother, Fred Mortzfeldt, Bedford Road; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Lundine, Locust Grove, Mrs. Minne Brant, and Mrs. Howard Dreyer, city; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted there Thursday at 1 p.m. Rev. Lavern Rasmussen will officiate and interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
