1. Newspaper: Pittsburgh Daily Post: obituary of John G. Owston, 9 Mar 1901, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA. 5 John G. Owston, one of the oldest engineers on the pension list of the Pittsburg, Fort Wayne & Chicago railroad, died yesterday morning at his home, 215 Bidwell street, Allegheny. He was known among railroad men as "Saginaw John." He came to Allegheny from Saginaw, Mich., 37 years ago and entered the employ of the railroad company as an engineer and held that position continuously until the beginning of the present year, when he was placed on the pension list on account of his age. He was 74 years old. For 35 years he was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and at the time of his death was an active member of Division 293, of Allegheny.
