6. Obituary: Gettysburg Times: obituary of James Melvin Pittenturf on 15 May 1961 in Gettysburg, Adams, PA. 3 James Melvin Pittenturf, 77, died Saturday morning at 9:30 at his home, Gettysburg R3. He had been in ill health since 1954. A native of Gettysburg and son of the late Powers and Mazie Beecher Pittenturf, he was an installer of elevators. Surviving are his wife, the former Celestia Smith; seven children, Miss Louise Pittenturf, at home; Mrs. Harold Cleveland, Gettysburg RD and Betty, Mary Lindora, Dorothy and Celestia, all at home, two grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters; Mrs. J B McMurray, Florida; Mrs. Georgia Brady, Marietta, and Huber and Edward, both of Gettysburg. Funeral services Tuesday morning at 10:00 from the Wilson Funeral Home Fairfield with interment in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
