Stricken with Pneumonia while Wife Lies Ill Here

Ill But Twelve Hours

Mr. Meiley Traveled for Fairbanks Company

Death Occurs at Shreveport, La. - Leaves Wife and Family Here - Funeral in Marion

That the grim reaper of souls is no respecter of times or circumstances was again evidenced yesterday when E. J. Meily, of this city, died suddenly in Shreveport, Louisiana, of pneumonia.

Mr. Meily, who was thirty-seven years of age, was a traveling salesman for the Fairbanks' Steam Shovel company with headquarters in New Orleans. He had gone to Shreveport on business for his firm, was stricken yesterday morning, and so rapid was the development of the disease that he succumbed to its ravages at six o'clock last evening.

A sad incident connected with the demise is the fact that Mrs. Meily, wife of the dead man, has been confined to her home of Farming street for the past two weeks with a serious affection of the heart, and the shock of her husband's death renders her condition extremely dangerous. Four young children, Mahlon, Ruth, Paul Edgar, and Pauline are in this home of dual sorrow, scarcely realizing the tragedy in the situation.

Mr. Meily, previous to his contract with the Fairbanks' company, conducted a mill on John street. At one time he was head miller for the Darmody and McClure Grain and Elevator company and was a valuable man in any position he chose to occupy.

The remains will be shipped to Marion today and funeral services will probably occur early next week.

Edgar married Clide Blanche Coleman, daughter of Wilson Shannon Coleman and Maria Ann Straub, on 23 Feb 1893 in Marion, Marion, OH.1 (Clide Blanche Coleman was born on 20 May 1871 in Waldo, Marion, OH,9 died on 20 Apr 1911 in Paragould, Greene, AR 10 and was buried in Marion: Marion Cemetery, Marion, OH 10.)
