"Shorty Pensinger, Jr., 70, of 198 Black Gap Road, Fayetteville, PA, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 30, 2008 in his home. Born November 14, 1937 in Fort Loudon, he was a son of the late John W. Sr. and Elizabeth M. Oyler Pensinger. John served in the US Army and the National Guard. He retired after 34 years of service with the James River Corporation in Chambersburg, and was currently employed by Osburn-Hessey Logistics. John was a member of Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, the Marine Corps League, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, all in Chambersburg, the Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Association, and the South Mountain Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Philadelphia Phillies.
A loving and devoted husband and father, he is survived by his loving wife, Nellie S. Thomas Pensinger, whom he married December 29, 1962; five children, Clarence "Will" Pensinger and wife Rose of Fayetteville, Debra J. Henry and husband Steve of Chambersburg, Pam J. Pensinger and companion Tony Wagaman, Doris J. Beecher and husband Glenn Jr., and Thelma J. Pensinger, all of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Thelma M. Hull and husband James of Chambersburg, and two brothers, James F. Pensinger of Kissimmee, FL and Benjamin H. Pensinger and companion Judy of Chambersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 3, 2008 in the Chapel of Thomas L Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
