Wargo, 84, 310 West King Street, Shippensburg, died Sunday, June 17, at his residence. Born March 13, 1923 in Kingston, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Michael F. and Connie Charnetsky Wargo. He was a history professor at Shippensburg University until his retirement. He graduated from Bucknell University, Lewisburg. This is where he met his wife, Marguerite Bush, who preceded him in death on March 10,2001. Mr. Wargo was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran, he was Wargo also an avid sportsman, and he also enjoyed playing golf and dancing. He was a member of the Church of God of Cumberland Valley, Shippensburg, a lifetime member of the Minnequa Social Club, Shippensburg, and a member of various veteran, Masonic, civic and fraternal organizations, he also co-hosted a public television program in the 1960's called Lycoming on the Air". He is survived by one son, Michael R. (husband of Delores) Wargo, Shippensburg, one daughter, Michele W. (lifetime partner of Merle Kelley) Clouser, Chambersburg, and one niece, Elizabeth Savior. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Edward J. Wargo, who died November 30, 1999, one brother, Edward J. Wargo, and one sister, Dorothy Saylor. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, at the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Stanley Rexroth. Burial will be in Middle Spring Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, 135 Middle Spring Rd., Shippensburg, PA 17257. Online condolences can be expressed at fogelsanger-brick-erfuneralhome.com.
