Lillian Smallwood, the little two-year-old granddaughter of W. D. Allen, met with so severe an accident this afternoon that she died from the effects of it very soon after. Mr. Allen's daughter Emma had partially filled a tub with scalding water, to which she had added some concentrated lye. While the lady was out of the room, after cold water, the child fell in, and had its back completely cooked by the boiling hot fluid. She was a daughter of Mrs. Julia Smallwood, who, when last heard from, was in Omaha. The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock.

3. Obituary: Manhattan Mercury: Last Thursday afternoon Lillian Smallwood, two years old, who was living with her grandfather W. D. Allen, fell into a tub of scalding water from which she died in a few hours. on 14 May 1890 in Manhattan, Riley, KS, United States. 4
