The death of Mrs. Nancy Sowers, a former resident of Clearspring, at the home of her son, John Sowers in York, Pa., was very sudden. She had been standing before her bureau only a few minutes before the summons came. Heart disease was the cause of death. The son with whom she lived is the only immediate survivor. Her funeral occurred, Tuesday, from St. Peter's Lutheran church, Clearspring, Rev. E. H. Jones officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

Nancy married Eli F. Sowers, son of Frederick Sowers and Elizabeth Beecher. (Eli F. Sowers was born on 6 Sep 1825 in Clear Spring, Washington, MD,^{4 5} died on 6 Oct 1857 in Clear Spring, Washington, MD ^{4 5} and was buried in Clear Spring: St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran, Washington, MD ^{4 5}.)
