Census in 1850 in Franklin Twp., Adams, PA. 1 The 1850 census recorded George Witter, farmer, 51, living with wife Sarah, 45; Elizabeth, 21; David, 18; George, 16; Samuel, 14; Jacob, 10; Matilda, 7; and Henry, 4. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania except George Sr. in Maryland. Also in the same household but listed as a second family is Catherine Saltzgiver, 64, who is very likely Sarah's mother. With her is Julian Blyth, 40, (her daughter?), with two sons: Julius Blyth, 6; and Junius Blythe, 6. All in the second household were born in Pennsylvania.
