Melva was the wife of the late Robert H. Beecher who died in 1998.

Born in Plumstead Township, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Clara Atkinson Shaddinger.

Melva was a graduate of Doylestown High School, class of 1938 and Lansdale School of Business. She was a homemaker for most of her years, however, she had worked as a secretary at Pine Run Elementary School, New Britain. Melva was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doylestown.

Mrs. Beecher enjoyed playing pinocle with "her card club friends" and was an avid bird watcher.

Melva will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and for her love of flowers, gardening and the joy she had spending summers at the Jersey shore. She cherished spending time with her family.

Melva is survived by her two daughters, Beverly A. Neidert (Bernie) of Blooming Glen and Diane E. Drumm of Endicott, N.Y., as well as her four grandchildren "who thought the world of her", Jeffrey (Heather), Jennifer, Jeremy and Justin. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Melva's funeral service at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where guests will be received from 10 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Melva's name may be made to: Peace Valley Nature Center, 170 North Chapman Road, Doylestown, PA 18901. Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home.

Melva married Robert H. Beecher, son of Robert Ferguson Beecher and Tillie J. Strothers. (Robert H. Beecher was born on 11 Oct 1917 in Southampton Township, Bucks, PA,^{2 3} died on 2 Sep 1998 in Doylestown, Bucks, PA ³ and was buried in Prospectville: Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Montgomery, PA, USA.)
