Kay Louise Beecher, daughter of Kenneth T. Beecher of 1117 Oak St., and the late Mrs. Katherine S. Beecher, on Saturday became the bride of Patrick Quentin Spiese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Spiese of 208 Perry St., Columbia.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was the setting for the 3:30 p.m. nuptials. The Rev. H. Wahl Pfeifer, pastor, officiated for the double ring ceremony before the altar which was decorated with palms, ferns and white gladioli. White satin bows marked alternate pews down the center aisle.
Mrs. Jamee Graham of Pittsburgh, cousin of the bride, was the guest organist. For the wedding procession she played "Trumpet Tune" by Purcell and for the recessional, "Psalm XIX." Other organ selections by Mrs. Graham included "Air" from the "Water Music Suite," "Andante" by Handel and "Adagio in A-Minor" by Bach. Mrs. Albert Spiese Jr., sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was the vocalist. Her numbers were "For All We Know," "Be Thou With Me" and "The Lord's Prayer."
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white silk organza with Alencon lace trim. The empire bodice, fronted with lace, featured a mandarin collar, accented with an organza ruffle, and full bishop sleeves of organza with deep Alencon lace cuffs. The A-line skirt with lace hemline was enhanced with a chapel-length Watteau train. The bride's forward headdress was of pearl-edged lace petals and organza loops, to which was attached a bouffant veil of imported silk illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations and stephanotis.
Miss Jean Anne Beecher, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Virginia L. Beecher, another sister, and Miss Joanne Krynicky of Mount Pleasant, college friend of the bride. They were attired in identically-styled floor-length gowns of silk organza. The empire bodices featured standup collars and full bishop sleeves of maize shade. Moss green lace formed a jacket effect on the bodices. The cuffs on the sleeves were also of moss green lace, outlined with ruffles of maize shade organza. The A-line skirts were of maize organza. Each wore a maize organza picture hat and carried a wicker basket containing white daisies, yellow sweetheart roses, miniature yellow carnations and baby breath.
Jack Yeager of Columbia served as the best man. Ushers were Herbert Spiese, brother of the bridegroom, and Charles Leedy, both of Columbia.
Supplementing the ceremony was a reception for one hundred fifty guests in the social room of the church, hosted by the bride's father. The four- tier wedding cake was separated at each tier with inverted champagne glasses.
The newlyweds are now on their honeymoon at Atlantic City, N. J., and the eastern coastline. They will reside on 905 York St. (rear) at Hanover, after Friday.
Mrs. Spiese was graduated from Connellsville Joint High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She now teaches mathematics at the Spring Grove Area School District.
The bridegroom was graduated from Columbia High School and Millersville State College. He is a veteran of four years' service in the U. S. Air Force.
