6. Obituary: News Tribune: obituary of Liz Lassoie on 8 Jul 2012 in Tacoma, Pierce, WA. ⁴ Liz Lassoie passed away on May 29th after a long battle with lung disease. She was 78 years of age, a beloved mother and grandmother, and a cherished friend.

Liz was born on December 11, 1933 in Albany, New York to Dr. and Mrs. William Milner, the second of four girls. She attended St. Agnes Academy and later the University of Michigan. During her first marriage, Liz had three children, Susan, William and Kevin, all of whom survive her.

In 1972, Liz married her second husband, Joseph Lassoie. Liz also took great satisfaction in civic involvement, actively participating in, and often taking leadership roles in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA, get-out-the-vote campaigns for school levies and preservation of historic landmarks, just to name a few. When she was in her early fifties, Liz decided to go back to school, and in 1984, became a licensed practical nurse, and continued in that field until the late '80s.

In 1992, Joe Lassoie passed away. The following year, Liz met Fred Nerland, who became her steadfast and beloved companion for the remainder of her life. Liz Lassoie is preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her three sisters. She is survived by her dear companion, Fred, by her three children, by James, her dear stepson who was a son to her, and by her grandchildren, Consuelo, Carlos, Andrew, Cassandra and Tyler.

A memorial gathering will be held on July 28th, 2012, at 1:00 at the Fircrest Community Center at 555 Contra Costa Ave., Fircrest, Washington 98466.
