She was born August 7, 1916 in Bay View, Washington to Fred and Gertrude (Graff) Harr. Margaret attended Edison schools and graduated in 1934.

On June 10, 1949 she married Hale M. Beecher in Mount Vernon. In 1951 they moved to Yakima, and returned to Mount Vernon in 1986. Hale preceded her in death on June 1, 1993.

Margaret worked for the Mount Vernon Daily Herald from 1940 to 1949, and she retired as a proof reader from Republic Publishing Company in Yakima in 1978.

She is survived by her loving companion, Rev. David L. Whittaker, of Mount Vernon; two stepdaughters, Joan McKenzie and Barbara Beecher; five stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

At Mrs. Beecher's request, there will be no services.

Inurnment will be in Bay View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Skagit Valley, 819 S. 13th St., Mount Vernon, WA 98274.

Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.
