Rusholme St., Davenport. The burial will take place at a later date.
The family will greet friends in the gathering space at the church Friday at 10 am until the Mass. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Public Library. Halligan-McCabe-deVries Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Beecher passed away peacefully at her home.
Mary "Sue" Curran was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Sterling, Illinois, the oldest daughter of Francis and Oma (Rendleman) Curran. She was united in marriage to Fredric P. Beecher on May 6, 1950, in Dixon, Illinois. Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a voracious reader, always interested in sharing her books with others. She loved visits with her family, always interested in gathering together and anticipating the next visit. Her smile and positive nature was infectious; she laughed with her husband until the very end.
Sue is survived by her husband, Fred, of Davenport; her son, Mike (Michelle) Beecher, of Palatine, Illinois, (his children, Michael (Debbie) Beecher, of Marion, Iowa, and Matthew Beecher of Chicago); her daughter, Susan (Gerry) Haan, of Bettendorf, (and their children, Gerry (Melanie) Haan, of Bettendorf, Katie (Creighton) Duncan, of Eldridge, and Jessica (Jason) Kluever, of Charlotte, Iowa); her son, David (Becky) Beecher, of Iowa City (and their children, nee Beecher, of Nashville, Tennessee, Alex (Andie) Beecher, of Shawnee, Kansas, Asya (Jarid) Reid, of Long Grove, Iowa, Addy Beecher, of Julian, California, Tony (Abby) Sturgell, of North Liberty, Iowa, and Tim (Katie) Sturgell of Iowa City); her son, Matthew (Lisa) Beecher, of Davenport (and their children, Emily, Aleah and Ben Beecher). Sue was also "Grandma-the-Great" to 20 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters, Helen Green, Dixon, Illinois, and Margarete (Floyd) Wohrley, Cambridge, Illinois; a brother, Jerry (Anne) Curran, Littleton, Colorado; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
