Obituary: Press Gazette on 15 Dec 2022 in Green Bay, Brown, WI. 4 Jerrold "Jerry" Elton Dickey, born to Elton and Irene (Williams) on July 21, 1939, departed in the evening of the 13th of December 2022. He passed the divide from this world to the next the only way he accepted he ever would; at home, embraced by all four of his children, with the love of his life Sue (Beecher) by his side, just as she lived with him for their 60 years of selfless, loving marriage. Jerry died where he lived his 83 years of life, in De Pere, Wisconsin where he and Sue, after being wed at St. John Lutheran Church in 1962, raised their family of six- Terry Jo Marshall (Thomas), Diane McGowan (James), Carrie Vogt (Thomas), and Todd Dickey (Brittany). Prior to his proudest accomplishment of raising his family, Jerry honorably served his country for 4 years in the United States Army after graduating from East De Pere High School in 1958, before planting roots back in his hometown. His loyalty and service then seamlessly transitioned from the military to his employment at Fort Howard Paper Co. where he retired in 1995, after 33 years. Even in retirement, Jerry was always finding something to keep his mind sharp and stay productive- more often than not, his radio could be faintly heard from his basement workshop where he never hesitated to lend a hand, knowledge, or one of his pristinely kept tools (as long as you gave it back). His handiness and craftsmanship seemed to have no boundaries, yet he would tell you some of his most anticipated projects involved annual wooden racecars with his son and eventually, grandson(s) to compete in Boy Scouts. Outside of his home and garden, Jerry was an avid deer hunter where he extended his wisdom and life lessons via spending time in nature with his family. Another pleasure was traveling the world with his love. He and Sue explored a plethora of cultures in multiple countries during their retirement including, but not limited to, Ireland and returning to France where he spent a significant amount of his tenure in the military. His passing is mourned by his wife, children and twelve grandchildren: Erika, Brett, Austen, Brooke, Kyle, Alli, Kayla, Charles, Natalie, Abbott, Amelie, and Miles, as well as his treasured great-grandchild, Avery. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Elton and Irene. All are encouraged to celebrate Jerry's life at Cotter Funeral Home located at 860 N Webster Avenue on Sunday, December 18th. Visitation will be 11:00 AM-12:45 PM. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Rev. Cindy Warmbier-Meyer officiating. Jerrold married Susanne L. Beecher, daughter of Charles Leroy Beecher and Alvina Louise Frida Warner, on 26 Sep 1962 in De Pere, Brown, WI.1 (Susanne L. Beecher was born on 10 Nov 1941 in , , WI.) |
