Funeral services for Nell Smith, 73, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005 at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005 at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.

Ms. Smith died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at Chapman's Healthcare. She was born in Elmore County Feb. 27, 1932 to Jessie Jackson Martin and Arazona Louise Martin. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and worked in the textile industry as a machine operator for most of her life.

She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Yates and husband Byron of Millbrook, Vickie Colquitt and husband Ronnie of Mobile and Judy Beeker and husband Mike of Sraland; one brother, Jack Martin and wife Flora of Alexander City; two sisters, Kathaleen Moody of Tallassee, Laura Roach of Theodore and Lora Sharpe and husband Lewis of Opelika; three grandchildren, Brandi Lamar and husband Pat of Alabaster, Daniel Beeker and Ben Beeker both of Saraland; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Lamar and Jessica Lamar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bunk Smith; and several brothers and sisters.

Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
