Also in the home is Tatum Deadmond, farmer, 29, male; Lucinda Dedmond, 27, female; Haley Deadmond, farmer, 25, male; and Camaline Deadmond, 8, female. Everyone was born in Davie County.

On the same census page is Philip Beaker, laborer, 20, living in the household of Cicero Ford, farmer, 29, and his wife Sarah, 27; and their children John, 6; Mary, 3; and Robert, 1. They were born in Davie County.

Nearby (two census pages earlier) is George Becker [sic, poor handwriting], 10, living in the household of Thomas J. Deadmond, farmer, 39; and his wife Caroline, 32. George was born in Davidson County.

2. Census in 1860 in Fulton, Davie, NC. ⁴ The 1860 census recorded Sol Becker [indexed wrong due to poor handwriting], farm laborer, 13, living in the home of George Deadman, farmer, 45. They were born in North Carolina.

3. Census in 1870 in Jerusalem, Davie, NC. ⁵ The 1870 census recorded George Deadman, farmer, 57, living with Barbary, 31. Also in the home was John C. Forrest, farm laborer, 21, and James Pack, 10. Everyone was born in North Carolina.

4. He signed a will on 22 Aug 1872 in , Davie, NC. ⁶ I, George Deadman, of the county of Davie in the state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my Earthly existence, do make and declare this my final will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First that my executrix hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wants of my relations and friends, and may pay all general expenses together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomever owning, out of the monies that may first come into his hands, as a part or parcel of my estate.
Item \endash I give and devise to my beloved wife Barbary Alla all my personal property consisting of Household & Kitchen furniture, stock of all kinds of farming tools and provisions of all kinds that may be on hand at my death, to dispose of as she may wish at her death.
I also give to my wife, Barbary Alla, all my interest in lands during her natural life, and at her death my land to go to my brother, Haley Deadman and his bodily heirs forever.
I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife, Barbary Alla Deadman, my lawful Executrix to all my intent, and purposes, to execute this my last will and testament of the same, and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills an testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I the said George Deadman do hereby set my hand and seal this the 22nd day of August 1872.
