Daniel E. Snyder, traveling salesman, York, was discovered dead, and Mrs. Carrie Hergenrother, 17 Hazel street, Lancaster, was found unconscious in a cottage at Kendig's quarries, below Rocky Springs, near Lancaster, at noon Wednesday.

Snyder was a native of East Manchester township, York county, having come from the vicinity of New Holland.
The discovery was made by Joseph Light, York, owner of the cottage, known as "Rosewood;" his mother, and three workmen. The couple obtained a key to the cottage on Monday evening from Light's mother on pretenses that they had permission of Light to occupy the place.

Cause of Death A Mystery

The cause of death is a complete mystery. Doctors claim that a very mysterious poison brought about the death of the man and the condition of the woman. The theory that wood alcohol poisoning was responsible for the death of the man and the condition of the woman was completely exploded according to word from Lancaster.

Daniel E. Snyder, traveling salesman, York, was discovered dead, and Mrs. Carrie Hergenrother, of Lancaster, was found unconscious in a cottage below Rocky Springs, near Lancaster, at noon Wednesday. The discovery was made by Joseph Light, owner of the cottage, known as "Rosewood," his mother, and three workmen who had arrived at the cottage to dig a cellar. The couple obtained a key to the cottage on Monday evening from Light's mother on pretenses that they had permission of Light to occupy the place.

The woman was known to the Lights and represented the man as her husband. The cause of death is a complete mystery. Doctors claim that a very mysterious poison brought about the death of the man and the condition of the woman. In the room where the body of the man undressed, was found, as well as in the room where the woman, also undressed, was lying on a bed, the investigators found no containers of any sort that would hold any kind of liquid. Lunch which they had taken with them to the cottage was found on the table as they had left it upon their arrival except it appeared as if a few bites of the food had been taken. Snyder left his home in York on Sunday for a three weeks' sales tour for the W. E. Duff Co., York. He first went to Harrisburg and later, a member of the Duff firm said, was in Waynesboro. He was scheduled to go to Virginia last week. Snyder leaves his wife, a daughter, Gertrude, and a son, Guy Snyder.
