He passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 5, 1933, in Houlton, and attended Houlton High School.
He was an avid bowler and holds one of the highest strings ever recorded at Star City Bowling with a score of 211. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a retired Civil Servant. He also owned and operated his own janitorial service for many years.
He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge of Presque Isle for 42 years and he was a past Exalted Ruler. He was a Mason, and was a greeter with the Shriners.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Beverly and Neal McCrum of Bangor, Diane and Stanley Winslow of Presque Isle, Rebecca and Alber Engstrom of Buxton, Janet and James Beicher of Warrenton, Va., and Sandra Post and her fiancé, Scott Saucier. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Shawn and Megan McCrum, Jamie Leao, Jocelyn and Jaclyn Winslow, Tanya Peiler, Stephanie Slater, Christina Beicher, Michelle Post, and Amanda Lane; ten great-grandchildren, Ella and William McCrum, and a boy on the way, Brandon and Conner Leao, Timothy and Izzabella Peiler, Abigail and Keely Slater, and Kaelyn Post.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Pat Porter.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at State Street Baptist Church, Presque Isle. Interment will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bud's name may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
