Orphan's court orders sale of Abraham Sponsellers house & lot in Gettysburg on 3 Sep 1798 in York, York, PA. 5 York Orphan's Court Dockets Book H page 39 At an Orphans Court held at York, for the County of York, on the third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight Before John Joseph Henry Esquire and his Associates Judges & Assigned The Petition of William Beecher Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Abraham Sponseller late of the County of York yeoman deceased was read to the Court setting forth, That the said Abraham Sponseller lately died Intestate, owner and seized of a certain frame messuage and two lots of ground situate in Gettysburg in the said County of York, leaving a widow named Elizabeth, and three minor children, the eldest of whom is but five years of age, that the said intestates personal Estate, as appears by the inventory filed and remaining in the registers office at York amounts to the sum of ninety one pounds two shillings and two pence, and the advance of sales and sundry smalls sums received, amounts to twenty two pounds and sixteen shilling, making in the whole one hundred thirteen pounds eighteen shillings and two pence, exclusive of some small articles taken by the widow, that the Debts of said Intestate so far as they have come to the knowledge of the Administrator amount to the sum of two hundred and twenty six pounds seventeen shillings and four pence agreeably to a list here with exhibited to the Court, so that there appears a deficiency of assets to the amount of one hundred and twelve pounds nineteen shillings and two pence, and praying the Court to make an order to enable him to sell and dispose of the said house and two lots of ground, for the purpose of paying the said debts, and the overplus if any to be applied towards raising, maintaining and educating the said minor children or make such other order in the promises as to the Court shall seem expedient. Whereupon it is considered by the Court and ordered that the said Administrator do make sale of the said described premises with the appurtenances for the best price that can be had for the same, and that the said Administrator do make Report of his proceedings to the next Orphans court after the same shall be held.

Orphan's court sale of Abraham Sponsellers estate reported by Administrator William Beecher on 3 Oct 1798 in York, York, PA. 7 York Orphan's Court Dockets Book H page 48 October 3d 1798 Present same Judges [Henry Slagle and Jacob Rudisell Esquires] The Petition of William Beecher Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Abraham Sponseller late of York County yeoman deceased was read to the Court setting forth, That in pursuance of an Order of Orphans Court granted to the Petitioner, on the third day of September last past, Ordering and directing him to make sale of the real estate of Abraham Sponseller deceased, for the Intestates Debts and maintaining and educating his minor children, He the said Petitioner on the twenty eighth day of September now last past, exposed to sale at public vendue on the premises a certain messuage and two lots of ground situate in Gettysburgh in the said county of York as the Estate of the said Abraham Sponseller after having given due and legal notice of the time and place of sale, and the premises to be sold, and the same was then & there Publicly sold & struck off unto, Matthias Kolp for the sum of one hundred pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania payable as follows viz, forty Pounds in Hand twenty pounds on the first day of April next, and then twenty pounds on every first day of April thereafter until the whole is paid he being the highest and best bidder for the same which money the Petitioner is ready to account for, And praying the Court to confirm the said sale and make an order, Authorizing him to execute and acknowledge a Deed for the said premises to the purchaser the said Matthias Kelp, according to the act of General Assembly in such case made and provided. Whereupon it is considered by the Court and ordered that the said Administrator do make and execute a Deed to the purchaser Matthias Kolp and that the sale aforesaid be and is hereby confirmed. And now January 1st 1799 came into Court William Beecker Administrator of Abraham Sponseller deceased and Acknowledged his Deed to the said Matthias Kolp the purchaser.
5. Orphan's court Administrator William Beecher asks for auditors to be appointed on 1 Jan 1799 in York, York, PA. 8 York Orphan's Court Dockets Book H page 57 At an Orphans Court held at York, for the county the first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Before Henry Slagle and Jacob Rudisell Esquires Judges Assigned Came into Court William Becher Administrator of all and Singular the goods and chattels Rights and credits which were of Abraham Sponciller deceased and produced an account of his Administration as Settled with the Register of this county, whereby there appears to be a Balance in his Hands amounting to the Sum of one hundred and forty seven pounds three shillings five pence Whereupon it is considered by the court and ordered that the same be and is hereby confirmed. The Petition of William Beecher, Administrator of all and Singular the Goods and Chattels Rights and credits which were of Abraham Sponceller late of York county deceased was read to the court Setting forth, That by an Account of the Estate of said deceased, exhibited into the Registers Office and on this day approved of by the said Orphans Court, it appears that there is a balance in the Hands of the said Administrator to the amount of one hundred and forty seven pounds three shilling and five pence half penny part of which is not yet due. But the Petitioner begs leave to represent that the said sum in his Hands is not sufficient to pay the Debts of said deceased. And praying the Court to appoint three or more auditors, to settle and adjust the Rates and proportions of the Remaining Assets due and payable to the Respective Creditors, of said deceased, according to the form of the Acts of General Assembly of this State in such case lately made & provided. Whereupon it is considered by the Court and ordered that David Edit, James Gettys and Robert McIlvinney be, and they are hereby appointed Auditors to settle and adjust the rates and proportions of the remaining assets due and payable to the respective Creditors of the said deceased, agreeable to the act of Assembly, in such case made and provided.

Orphan's court accepts auditors report for Abraham Sponseller estate on 6 Mar 1799 in York, York, PA. 9 York Orphan's Court Dockets Book H page 71 At an Orphans Court held at York, for the County of York, the twenty sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Before Henry Slagle and William Scott Esquires Judges Assigned Robert McIlhinny, David Edie and James Gettys Auditors appointed at a former Orphans Court to apportion the Rates of the Remaining assets in the Hands of William Beecher Administrator of Abraham Sponsaller deceased. Mad Report that there will be at the Rate of Eight Shillings and nine pence the Pound.
