James Edward Bacon, aged 39, who passed thru Williams a few days ago, for the Grand Canyon, where he was to have gone into the service of the National Park, was accidentally killed there, shortly after noon Saturday.

Mr. Bacon formerly resided in Yucca, Ariz., and leaves a widow and two children, who were en route to the Canyon to join Mr. Bacon and make their home there, when the accident occured.

Mr. Bacon vas driving a 7,000 lb. truck toward a new building, in course of construction, opposite the Santa Fe Depot. He misjudged the distance between the top of the doorway and truck. Someone called out to him: Hold on, you can't drive thru there. The space isn't big enough.' "Yes I can' replied Bacon. the top of the doorway caught him across the breast, and death followed two hours later.

An inquest was held by a coroner's jury, who returned a verdict of accidental death. Superintendent Peters, of the National Park telegraphed undertaker J. S. Button of Williams to come and prepare the body, but Mr. Button happened to be out of town, and the remains had to be shipped to Flagstaff in preparation for burial.
