Albemarle, July 7 - Curtis Plato Tate, 37, former Albemarle resident and veteran of Wordl War II died Tuesday in the Fort Howard Hospital in Baltimore following several months illness. He was a son of J. C. Tate and the late Mrs. Tate. Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, the former Pearl Beeker of Albemarle; three step-children, Mrs. Raymond Hatley of Badin, Mrs. Floyd Russell of Albemarle and Mrs. Gordon Shelley of Baltimore, and two sisters, Mrs. Alma Furr of Albemarle and Mrs. Charles Ballentine of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lefler Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. C. D. Whitley. Military honors will be accorded and burial will be in the Albemarle Cemetery.


Curtis married Pearl Beeker, daughter of Oscar John Beeker and Pattie Senora Hall, in 1941 in Albemarle, Stanly, NC, USA.1 (Pearl Beeker was born on 1 May 1905 in Gilmer Township, Guilford, NC, USA,6 7 8 died on 30 May 2001 in Gettysburg, Adams, PA 6 7 8 9 and was buried in Littlestown: Mount Carmel Cemetery, Adams, PA 6 8.)
