Mrs. Miriam Catherine Parish, age 89 years, a native of North Carolina, died Monday morning at 3:30 o'clock at her home in Carthage. She had been in failing health for the past year and during that time had suffered two light strokes. The deceased was born September 2, 1847, in Guilford, North Carolina, but came to Rush county when seven years of age. She lived during her early life in the Little Blue river neighborhood. She was married to Henry W. Parish and to this union ten children were born, six preceding her in death. Mr. Parish died several years ago. She was a member of the Friends church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Nell Beher, and three sons, Ross, Carl and Charles, all of Carthage; two brothers, Jasper Northam of Rushville and Will Northam of the Little Blue river community. Ross Parish is owner of the Carthage hotel. Funeral services will be held at the late residence Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and interment will be made in Little Blue River cemetery. Friends may call at the residence anytime until the hour of the funeral.
