DEATH OF DR. J. G. WIESTLING
-----
Cut Down by Pneumonia After an Illness of a Few Days.
-----
The community was shocked this afternoon at the report that Dr. Jacob G. Wiestling, one of Harrisburg's oldest practicing physicians, had died suddenly at 1 o'clock. Dr. Wiestling had been ill but a few days, suffering from pneumonia, which gradually affected his heart and his illness assumed a serious aspect yesterday. His most intimate friends were not aware of his condition, as it was not thought a fatal result would follow. About noon to-day he began to sink rapidly and by one o'clock was dead. His brother, J. M. Wiestling, Esq., and brother-in-law, Senator A. J. Herr, reached the house a few minutes after he died. Dr. Wiestling was born in Harrisburg and was a son of Dr. Joshua M. Wiestling, who died in 1854. In his youth he attended school in this city, and subsequently was a student at Marshall College, which was located at Mercersburg. He read medicine with his father and graduated at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, returning to Harrisburg to practice his profession with his father. On the death of his father, the son succeeded to his practice, and was one of the most successful and able medical men in the city. Dr. Wiestling married Miss Susanna Herr, & sister of Senator A. J. Herr, his wife and four children, three sons and a daughter, surviving him. He was a brother of J. M. Wiestling, Esq., and Mrs. T. T. Worth, of Lebanon. Dr. Wiestling died at the old Wiestling homestead in Market Square, which has been occupied by the family for several generations.

Dr. married Susanna Herr, daughter of Daniel Herr and Sarah Salome Gilbert. (Susanna Herr was born on 16 Nov 1832,4 died on 8 Nov 1914 4 and was buried in Harrisburg: Harrisburg Cemetery, Dauphin, PA 4.)
