2. Obituary: The Sentinel: obituary of Ethel M. Nye on 5 Sep 1998 in Carlisle, Cumberland, PA. ³ Services for Ethel M. Nye, 83, of 11278 Old Mill Road, Shippensburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg.
She died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born April 21, 1915 in Lurgan Township, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Effie Piper Burkholder. She was the widow of Jay Wilson Nye, who died in 1953.
Mrs. Nye was retired from the housekeeping department at Shippensburg University. She was also a former cook for Diffy's Restaurant in Shippensburg. She was a member of Mongul United Brethren Church.
Surviving are three sons, Robert J. of Marietta, Ga., and Jack E. and Larry A., both of Shippensburg; one daughter, Judy A. Cassner of Shippensburg; one brother, Jay S. Burkholder of Hubbardsville, N.Y.; one sister, Ruth Hoch of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
The Rev. Frank Mathna will officiate at Sunday's service. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
