2. Obituary: on 5 Sep 1998 in Racine, Racine, WI. RACINE \emdash Martin L. "Marty" Brinkmann, 88, was called home on Friday, September 4, 1998. He resided at Woodstock Health Care Center in Kenosha for the past three years.
He was born in Rozeville on August 22, 1910, to the late William and Clara Brinkmann. Martin married Sylvia Slaasted in Racine on November 24, 1934. She preceded Marty in death on July 12, 1973.
Martin worked for Eisendrath Tannery until the business closed. He then went to work for J.I. Case Co. until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. He enjoyed puttering in his yard, playing cards with family and friends, bowing with the senior citizens and playing darts in the senior citizens dart ball league at Memorial Hall.
Martin is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Tom Peters of Racine and Bonnie and Roger Gease of Rapid City, S.D.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Barbara Brinkmann of Melbourne, Fla. and Robert Brinkmann of Virginia Beach, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Scholler of Racine and Charles and Ruth Dugas of Racine; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Martin was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers, including his identical twin brother, Charles, on November 9, 1992.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 1998, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 700 English St., with Rev. Thomas F. Lijewski officiating. Entombment at Calvary Cemetery Garden Crypts will follow. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 1998, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
