1. Obituary: Evening Herald: obituary of William V. Purcell on 5 Oct 1970 in Shenandoah, Schuylkill, PA. ¹ William Vincent Purcell, of 1244 West Coal street, Shenandoah, died today in Ashland State Hospital.
An Army veteran who served in France in World War I, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for 37 years until retirement 14 years ago. His parents were the late Michael and Mary (Gibbons) Purcell.
He was a member of Annunciation Church. His wife, Julia (Lavey), died June 14 1966. Surviving are two sons and seven daughters: Vincent, of Newark, Del.; John, of Long Island; Mrs. Regina Williams, Mrs. Anna Marie Oshman, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. Mary Lipski, of Pottsville; Mrs. Elizabeth Hentz, of Fairless Hills; Mrs. Loretta Treshock, with whom he resided; Mrs. Julia Blake, of Gilette, Wyo.; Mrs. Caitherine Zagorski, of Lititz; 32 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves a niece, Marie A. Kehl, music supervisor at Shenandoah Valley School District. Funeral will be from Oravitz Home for Funerals.
